A Pair of Orioles?

We noticed some brightly colored birds in our bottle brush bush a few weeks ago. They were kind of skittish. At first I thought it might be a Western Tanager. Then, one day we got a good look at it. I’m still not sure what kind of bird it is.

I think this is the female. She is not quite as skittish as the other bird. She did stop to tell me hello, but she was a little shy.

I hope I’ll be able to figure out what kind of bird this is.

Update – They are Hooded Orioles, thanks to my friends at Audubon California.
