Monarch Butterflies

The Monarch Butterflies are back! According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the butterflies are back in Point Pinole. They haven’t been seen here for about 5 years.

Today we took a hike of about 5 miles round trip to see them. We got a little lost because the trail wasn’t marked very well. But we found the site and we’re so glad!

They were way high up in a Eucalyptus tree. The looked like brown leaves and were difficult to spot without binoculars. A few were fluttering up near the top of the trees. It was so quiet in the butterfly grove, and I was able to set up my tripod and take a few pictures.

I’m so glad I was able to see this today!
