Weekly Photo Challenge: Winter

Winter in Northern California may not be your “traditional” season of snow and ice, but it is a different season from spring, summer, and fall. The temperatures get down to freezing at night, but the day time is generally not too cold. We get more rain than usual, but this year it’s been dry. This week it’s been foggy.

Today I went outside and heard this guy making lots of noise in the tree.

This is our winter.

Wow – our hummers are long gone in WI. Saw your mention of Sea Biscuit – I read that for book club and saw the movie. Both were great. The author has agoraphobia? (fear of leaving house) Made interviewing people a little bit challenging. But as my daughter pointed out, she could do a lot from the Web. But there’s something about sitting down face to face.. Plus, these were really old guys who I’m betting were not adept at the Web.

I enjoyed that book so much. The place where he lived out his final days is near here (Willits, CA). I’m hoping to go by and see it sometime this year in the spring. I didn’t know that about the author. She still wrote a very interesting book!

Annas are supposed to be year round. He looks very proud sitting there on that tree branch. We’ve started feeding them here in Elk Grove. It’s been weird, it took so long for us to finally attract hummingbirds here in Elk Grove. But they are sure here in gang buster numbers now!

Lol, Kareem – that’s the only angle I’ve got in my arsenal! I’m short 😉
