National Spaghetti Day – January 4th – Pomodoro Pizza, San Francisco

This was my 2nd Annual National Spaghetti Day. We tried to find a local place that served spaghetti, within walking distance, not expensive, and with excellent food! We found a treasure in Pomodoro Pizza that met all of the requirements except one. They served linguini, fettuccini and penne, but no spaghetti. It didn’t matter. The deliciousness of their pasta more than compensated for the lack of a specific type of pasta.

The meatballs were so flavorful and tender. When you cut into them you could see bits of fresh parsley and herbs in the meat. The Bologonese sauce was just right – garlic, fresh mushrooms, peppers, not skimpy on the meat, and soooo good. Our meal was served with a nice baby mixed greens salad and a piece of tender focaccia bread.

After our meal the owner, Sason, brought out a piece of tiramisu. I asked him if they made the tiramisu there. He explained everything was made there. The tiramisu was light and creamy. I’ve had tiramisu at other places where the tiramisu is dusted with cocoa. This was not dusted, it had chocolate shavings covering the top. We devoured it in about 8 seconds!

We will go back again!
